While Radia Frequency Identification (RFID) tags based networks have gained popularity over the years, there are also other wireless networks available that are being tested in order to provide same functionality and more. Wi-Fi and blue tooth are two of the examples of such networks. This short paper discusses the use of Wifi. Wi-Fi Networks WiFi generally comes under the umberalla of RFID. WiFi ID is actually an active RFID system that uses the air communication standard 802. 11. There are also other active RFID systems that use standards other than 802. 11 and operate on different frequencies. One of the important aspect of this scenerio is to understand thje difference between the RFID tags and Wifi tags. RFID Tags vs. WiFi Tags In order to use passive RFID tags, you need to have reader after every few feets to read the tag. For active RFID tags a radio sensor needs to be deployed that uses different technologies to sense the tags in order to determine the location of the tag. Antennas are also required. This means that you need to built an infrastructure to deploy both types of systems. Like Best Buy is doing. When you are using a WiFi based system that are aslo called Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), you only need to set up the WifFi network in the company and can use any underlying technology in order to make it work. RFID tags can also be used here, but adavnatge is that you dont need to set up the RFID network infratsurcture that you needed to incorporate before. In RFID tags, for short range identfication, High frequency tag is used and for short range identification, active UHF tags are used that operate on 900 MHz or 433 MHz. Both these type, as discussed require a complete insfrastructure to be built. However, WiFi operates on 2. 4 GHz. These 2. 4 GHz can be used in the network. For a company like BestBuy, choosing WiFi has an extra advantage that it will already have 802. 11 network infrastructures in place and this will save money for the company. The only things they need to buy are the WiFi tags. Applications The WiFi network infrastructure can provide many application to the companies like BestBuy and some of them include location-based network access, intelligent information management and wireless asset tracking. The WiFi tags can exactly point out the location of the tag. This can also mean that customer walking into the store can have the contents on his PDA according to the position where he is standing. Statistical reports can be generated n the basis of information of how much time a customer spends at a particular location and what consequences this can have using data mining techniques. Once the tagging has helped a customer locate items and a shopping list has been completed, the system can store this list for future reference to the particular customer. The underlying software can prepare a probable list of items for that particular customer. Another important application of WiFi tags can be theft prevention. For example, if a certain item is to be protected, the system will attach a flag to it whenever it is taken from the shelf and added to a cart. The system can then track the item until it reaches the check out line. If the item does not reach the check out line and leaves the store, it will be an indication of a theft and action can be taken against the customer. Therefore, the WiFi network can be employed for security of valuable assets as well. The Battle for Justice â€Å"It takes a warrior to fight a battle and survive. This here is a battle if I’ve ever seen one† (Beals 113). In the novel Warriors Don’t Cry, nine students from Little Rock Arkansas are set out on the battlefield for integration. Melba Pattillo and eight other friends are challenged with starting off the integration of Little Rock’s Central High School. The students were signed up and asked to attend the high school in hopes of getting rid of segregation. Although entering high school may seem as easy as signing in and going to class, the test and trials the Little Rock nine went through shows a true test of determination. Comparatively, the â€Å"Arab Spring†, a movement of protests in the Middle East, has caused controversy all over the world. Citizens are rebelling against an unfair government in hopes of create a new way of life. Tired of all the disrespect, unjust, and oppressive government Muslims and Middle Easterners have created a bat tle of their own. While trying to create a better life for themselves, the Little Rock Nine and those involved in the Arab Spring uprisings have stepped on to the battlefield for fair human rights. September 4, 1957 was the date set for the Little Rock Nine to enter into Central High School. While making their way to find the others, Melba and her mother spotted Elizabeth, one of the nine, standing in the midst of a screaming mob. There were national guards towering over her, but none seemed to do anything to stop the threats. Although Elizabeth was frightened, she still tried to enter the school. Elizabeth tried finding a way into the school but, â€Å"Each time she approached, the soldiers closed ranks, shutting her out† (Beal 36). The National Guard was told by Governor Faub... ...of great determination to increase human rights. A serious battle is one worth fighting for. The Muslims and Middle Easterners are still fighting for their right for a fair government. They are tired of the disrespect. They’re tired of the humiliation and unnecessary tactics used by the government. They want more of a democracy, to be able to have a say in the laws that are over their people. Even though they have chosen violent ways they still are trying to make a change. Although the Little Rock Nine were not violent, they wanted to make a change, to better their lives and those of their families. They chose to challenge the government and with the support of outside help they accomplished their goals. Fighting a battle isn’t easy. You need to make sure you have the right tools to conquer. Sometimes the strongest armor you could wear is faith and determination.

As speech day approached I hadn’t really given it much thought. I had been very busy that week and my first speech was the last thing on my mind. The day before I was to give my speech I realized it was the next day, I thought I would be more anxious about it than I was. I’ve always enjoyed public speaking in a weird way. Having run for student senate the past two years, I had to make speeches in front of my entire class. The rush of public speaking makes me feel good, it pushes me out of my comfort zone and I love doing that. Any class I can take with real life application is the best in my opinion. I enjoy knowing concretely that this will help me out in the real world once I get a job. Starting out the class I thought I would get more†¦show more content†¦If I had to choose something to change it would be my conclusion. I could have been more creative with it and added a joke or two. Something else I could have done was to add a few things to make it more entertaining. For example, I could have fluctuated my voice and worked better on my inflection and facial expressions. Besides the fact that he went over time by quite a bit, I think that Alejandro’s speech was the best out of all of them. He was a natural when it came to public speaking. It looked like it came easily for him which is a terrific skill to have. He moved around the box a lot, but it was purposeful. He was able to use strong nonverbals such as hand gestures. Alejandro spoke with purpose, didnt stutter and made his speech the most entertaining in my opinion. He was well prepared, maybe a little too prepared because he went over time so much. That is an easy fix and he will improve for next time. I am excited to listen to the rest of his speeches and laugh at all of his jokes in them. At the start of this year I was dreading having to take Oral Communication as a junior. I thought it would be really boring and I didnt think I was going to do well. Having my first speech under my belt I proved myself wrong. I executed my introductory speech well and will continue to enjoy the rush of stepping outside of my comfort zone.
