WordPress Limit Login Attempts How to Do It (Easy Free)
While WordPress itself is a secure platform, this doesnââ¬â¢t make your site immune to break-ins. One of the most common attacks is human or bot hackers trying to force their way through your login page by trying various username and password combinations until something works. To keep them from succeeding, you can use a WordPress limit login attempts plugin.By default, people can continuously try to log into your site, with no restrictions on attempts. However, most legitimate users wonââ¬â¢t need more than a few tries (at most). Therefore, you can limit the number of login attempts made from a specific IP address in a set amount of time. Any user who goes over the limit can be temporarily or permanently locked out, as a safety precaution. In this post, weââ¬â¢re going to show you how to set the feature up using a free WordPress limit login attempts plugin. Then, well share some of the pros and cons of this approach. Letââ¬â¢s get to work! 100% free.Popular active on ove r 700,000 sites, according to WordPress.org.Well-rated a 4.9-star rating (out of 5).Easy to use. By default, users get four guesses before the plugin locks them out:However, the plugin also provides a settings area where you can modify how this functionality works. To access this area, go to Settings Limit Login Attempts:In the Statisticsà section, you can find details about how many ââ¬Ëlockoutsââ¬â¢ have occurred due to the plugin. This will be empty right now, but you can check back later to see how many potential brute force attempts the plugin has halted. Then, under Options, you can customize how the lockout system works. This includes deciding how many guesses the plugin will allow, the length of time users will be locked out for, and more. You can even enable a GDPR-compliance setting, which will obfuscate all recorded IPs for privacy reasons.Scrolling down a bit, youââ¬â¢ll also find sections labeled Whitelist and Blacklist:Here, you can enter specific IPs and/or usernames. If you add a user to the whitelist, theyââ¬â¢ll be able to log into your site as many times as theyââ¬â¢d like, and wonââ¬â¢t have to worry about getting locked out.Adding someone to the blacklist, on the other hand, will permanently lock them o ut. The latter option is handy if you see a lot of suspicious activity coming from one or more specific IP addresses.Donââ¬â¢t forget to save your changes to this page when youââ¬â¢re done configuring the settings. Thatââ¬â¢s all you need to do to limit login attempts in WordPress!Should you limit login attempts on your website? At this point, you know how to set up a WordPress limit login attempts plugin on your site. However, you may be wondering if this is a necessary step for all WordPress users. Not allà security techniquesà are right for every website, and this one does have both potential advantages and drawbacks. First, letââ¬â¢s look at the benefits of limiting login attempts:It prevents humans and automated bots from being able to try hundreds (or thousands) of username/password combinations, until they hit on the right one.A temporary lockout is often enough to deter an attack, as the hacker or bot will simply move on to the next likely target. Most of your l egitimate users will only need a single login attempt, or perhaps a few if they forget or mistype their credentials. In a 2016 survey from Wordfence, brute force attacks were the second most popular known type of attack, which illustrates that a limit login attempts plugin is indeed protecting you from a real attack vector. On the other hand, the possible cons include:Adding a plugin to your site. While WordPress limit login attempts plugins are very lightweight, this can put off site owners who want to keep their plugin counts down (for security or performance reasons).Legitimate users who forget their passwords or make multiple login attempts for some other reason can still get locked out, which is an inconvenience. The second drawback can be alleviated in a number of ways. You can make sure to display the number of login attempts remaining, for example, which will keep users from getting caught off guard:You can also keep the lockout time relatively short. In addition, you can add t rusted users to your whitelist, so they donââ¬â¢t need to worry about tripping the system.Ultimately, while this isnt a mandatory security feature, itââ¬â¢s a smart addition for nearly any site. As long as you donââ¬â¢t mind spending a few minutes setting up and configuring an extra plugin, youââ¬â¢ll be taking an important step towards keeping malicious users out of your siteââ¬â¢s back end.ConclusionBrute force attacks are a common attack vector for hackers, and WordPress sites are often favored targets (thanks to the platformââ¬â¢s popularity). Fortunately, thwarting these attacks is relatively simple. All you need to do is prevent hackers and bots from being able to make lots of consecutive login attempts. In order to limit login attempts on your WordPress site, you can follow two simple steps:Install a dedicated plugin, such as Limit Login Attempts Reloaded.Configure the pluginââ¬â¢s settings, and let it do its job. The Beginning of Segregation â⬠History Essay
The Beginning of Segregation ââ¬â History Essay Free Online Research Papers The Beginning of Segregation History Essay Segregation is a term that every American has heard and has their own definition of. What many Americanââ¬â¢s do not realize is that segregation is not just something that happened as soon as the end of the Civil War was over. This separation of blacks and whites took time and a lot of effort by white southerners to put in place. When Did Southern Segregation Begin takes a piece of history that many do not like to think about and analyzes it from many different angles. Each article in the book has a different view point. C. Vannââ¬â¢s The Strange Career of Jim Crow says that the reason for segregation is the laws that were enforced during the late nineteenth century or ââ¬Å"de jure.â⬠The article talks of how the ââ¬Å"relaxation of the oppositionâ⬠(pg 53) is a major cause for the Democrats being able come back into power and the implement of the eventual segregation laws such as Jim Crow laws. It seemed like even though the blacks and whites separated themselves from each other, they were starting to learn to work together and to tolerate each other. The excerpt also shows how blacks and whites learned to be civilized when they encountered each other. The division of the two races happens soon after the end of the Civil War. In churches and schools were probably some of the first places to be spilt. During the time, neither place was to be segregated by law. Both places became segregated by the choice of the public. This is an early example of how the blacks separated themselves from the Whites to start to own life as free people. Vann Woodward also talks about the reactions of people in the late nineteenth century to the placement and enforcement of the Jim Crow laws. Of course the black communities were against any law restricting them from everyday rights and everyday convenience. Many whites also were not satisfied with the thought of Jim Crow Laws. The article quotes a Charleston editor saying, ââ¬Å"We have no more need for a Jim Crow System this year than we had last year.â⬠(49). This is just one example of people who saw no need for Jim Crow Laws. Joel Williamsonââ¬â¢s, The Separation of the Races, shows segregation being a social separation, or ââ¬Å"de facto,â⬠and claims that it started at the end of the Civil War. The withdrawal of blacks is not because of hatred for the white man, but was a need to leave their past behind them and move away from slavery and servitude. The excerpt shows that many people believe that ââ¬Å"separation was also a way to avoiding interracial violenceâ⬠(63). The withdrawal of blacks immediately following the Civil War gave whites the idea they had control over the situation. Even though blacks were not giving in, they were just looking for separation between them and the white man. Blacks started to push for equal rights in public areas. Whites started to withdrawal themselves to avoid mixing with blacks. This withdrawal became a push to have the color line clearly drawn and to have laws set in place to prevent mixing of the races. Edward L. Ayersââ¬â¢s, The Promise of the New South: Life After Reconstruction, shows how extreme the battle for a proper place to ride on the train was and how railroads were the starting place for segregation, since the railroad companies were trying to separate the races with no legal right. The trains were turned into the first major place of tension after the Civil War. The segregation on the railroad was just an issue for first class or ladyââ¬â¢s car. This is where all the conflict started. During the late eighteen hundreds, many whites and rail road companies were sued over the placement of blacks on the train, and more importantly the first class car. Blacks learned what lines they could cross and not be in the wrong legally. So they pushed for equal accommodations. Howard N. Rabinowitzââ¬â¢s, From Exclusion to Segregation: Southern Race Relations, 1865-1890, says segregation began toward the end of the nineteenth century and was caused by the blacksââ¬â¢ continual push for equal rights. So in turn, whites segregated the races by using laws to keep the blacks from mixing with whites. The color line slowly became very distinct and did not allow direct association with whites in social situations or any situation; they would be allowed to be involved in similar things just in a separate room or separate area. Many blacks just wanted to be treated fairly under the idea of the ââ¬Å"separate but equalâ⬠law established by ââ¬Å"Plessey vs. Ferguson.â⬠Whites were not restricted by the law like the blacks were, so if a white man wanted to ride on a first class black car, he may. In turn, blacks just wanted the same restrictions on their cars and their property as the whites had on their cars against a black man. Barbara Y. Welkeââ¬â¢s, When All the Women Were White, and All the Blacks were Men: Gender, Class, Race, and the Road to Plessy, 1815-1914, says the segregation began as a perpetration of races and gender on the railroad. The excerpt implies that there are four different kinds of people; White women, White men, Black women, and Black men. The issue of the railroad centered on who could ride on the first class or Ladyââ¬â¢s car, and how gender affected this. The main issue was whether it was going to be allowed for black women to be able to ride in the first class car. There were many court cases brought against whites by blacks in response to being removed or threatened to leave a first class car. Finally, in the court case Logwood vs. Memphis Charleston R.R., the judge ruled that ââ¬Å"if a railroad company furnished for white ladies a car with special privileges of seclusion and other comforts, the same must be substantially furnished for colored ladiesâ⬠(140). T his ruling gave the railroad law to separate the races but with equal accommodations. In the final excerpt, Trouble in Mind: Black Southerners in the Age of Jim Crow by Leon F. Litwack, he talks of how southern segregation started when the new generation of blacks would not stay in ââ¬Å"their place.â⬠The excerpt talks about how the new generation of blacks did not respect the old ways of the South. The new generation of blacks questioned the lines that separated them from white southerners. The increasing numbers of blacks who would not stay in ââ¬Å"their placeâ⬠alerted the white community and helped push for the urgent need of laws to restrict their movement and advancement in society. These laws made segregation a common practice of life in the South. Society continued to grow more, and more blacks started to work and associate with whites in places like factories, libraries, and laundromats. So segregation was something whites thought they needed everywhere. The work place became a completely segregated area. The only times mixing of the rac es would take place was only under emergency conditions, during cleanings, and to have a repair man fix a problem. Any place where a black man could be on equal footing with a white man was segregated as quickly as possible. The black man was then offered similar but unequal facilities. This book sites many causes for segregation. There are similar views, like such as Woodward, Litwack, and Rabinowitzââ¬â¢s believe that segregation started by the emplacement of the Jim Crow laws. Their view of why the laws were put in place is different: Rabinowitz says more based on an unclear color line, compared to Woodwardââ¬â¢s argument of the relaxation of support for blacks, and Litwackââ¬â¢s states the blacks would not stay in their place. These both contrast Williamââ¬â¢s argument that segregation was a social divide that was finally clarified with the implication of laws. Then both Ayers and Welke argue over how segregation came out of the railroad. The excerpt that was most convincing to me was Woodwardââ¬â¢s article. He gave the reader a complete overview of the whole time period before Jim Crow and up to the strict enforcement of segregation that we think of today. Both sides of the argument are explained and easily understood. His main argument for segregations is the lack of opposition was very convincing and well explained. He shows how the dissolve of the opposition was on all fronts from Northern liberalism to the decisions in the Supreme Court. The Northern liberalism slowly backed down and the Supreme Court ruled on many cases in favor of segregation. Also how he shows how the affairs of the world impact issues of race relations here on the home front. The issue of the Pacific and Caribbean gave a ââ¬Å"bloody shirtâ⬠also to the Democrats. This evened the field between the Republicans and Democrats. All the issues that he says leads up to segregation are clearly defined and are also explained in gre at detail so the reader is able to understand what is going on. These excerpts gave a brief look into the making of segregation. They all showed court cases and peopleââ¬â¢s testimonies about what helped to shape the ground of what would become the new south. The unfortunate enforcement of Jim Crow laws led to years of racial division and tension. Strategic Leadership for Change Management Article
Strategic Leadership for Change Management - Article Example The paper tells that human relations in many ways are nothing but a manifestation goodwill and common sense in practice. To a large degree of success entrepreneur in the field of human relations depend on such things how to make a nice job in a supermarket or an attractive work at the factory. Entrepreneurs often ignore these simple things, especially when their business is only growing. At the initial stage entrepreneurship, they generally have to worry only about themselves, and maybe itââ¬â¢s not numerous staff. Solid consciousness common purpose binds the owner of the company and its staff. But as addition, as new employees, this relationship is waning, if the entrepreneur does not pay enough attention to the so-called human problems. Currently, many companies have become so cumbersome that workers lose the possibility of human contact with their by employers. In some areas of manufacturing high degree of automation leads to the fact that workers lack, for example, feelings of satisfaction and involvement with the product, in which manufacturing have contributed. Many workers do not even have a clue about that the purpose for which the buyer uses their product. Robotic the nature of a significant proportion of their work does not have arisen from them a sense of self-esteem. Leadership has been the object of study when, in early twentieth century began for the first time to study management. However, only between 1930 and 1950 was the first time undertook the study of leadership on a large scale and systematic basis. These early studies set out to identify the property or the personal characteristics effective leaders. According to the theory of personal leadership, and certain set of common for all personal qualities. Developing this idea, it can be argued that if these qualities can be identified, people could to learn how to raise them yourself, and thus become effective leaders. Some of these learned traits - this level of intelligence and knowledge, impressive appearance, honesty, common sense, initiative, social and economic education and a high degree of confidence in itself. In the 40s, scientists began to study the collected facts of the relationship between personal skills and leadership. Unfortunately, despite the hundreds held research, they agreed on a set of qualities that certainly distinguish big leader. In 1948 Stogdill made comprehensive review of research in the field of leadership, which noted that study of the personal qualities continues to give conflicting results. He found that leaders tend to their intellect and the desire to knowledge, reliability, responsibility, activity, social participation and socio - economic status. However, Stogdill also noted that in different situations, effective leaders exhibited different personal of quality. He then concluded, with whom would agree today scientists - behavioral: "Man is not only the head due to the fact that he has a certain set of personal characteristics." The conclusion is that there is no set of personal qualities, which present in all effective leaders are often cited as evidence that the effectiveness of leadership is situational in nature. However, the Stogdill said that his view is not enough emphasizes the personal nature of leadership. He argues that there are substantial evidence for the fact that different situations require different ability and quality. Although he did not call back to an approach to leadership in terms of personal qualities, Stogdill concluded that "the structure personal qualities of the head should be related to personal qualities, activities and tasks of his subordinates." Change Management In present times, organizations of all types live many changes in nature and scale, different with temporalities and rhythms variables (Wentz, 1999, pp. 78). These changes appear, on the one hand, as more or less of questioning the ways of acting and thinking found unsatisfactory, also the

The organisational culture and employee behavior Essay
The organisational culture and employee behavior - Essay Example The following qualities will be examined in detail in the essay; All the above character traits can be used by leaders to influence organisational culture and hence employee behaviour. First of all, there will be a need to change corporate communication in order to create an open and transparent organisational culture. This can be achieved through giving clear communication thus eliminating here-say among members of the organisation. This enhances the way employees perceive themselves and will also affect their behaviour (Robbins, 2004) Decision making within any organisation needs to be done in such a way that it enhances independence. Employees need to feel that their respective organisations trust them to the point of allowing them to make decisions within the organisations. Experts have suggested that organisations where there is less bureaucracy in the process of decision making are generally more efficient. The reason why this occurs is that most employees will not waste time trying to maintain protocol. Details of how mangers can achieve this will be examined in the essay. Leaders need to motivate their employees. There are various ways in which this can be achieved; through reward systems, through allowances, flexible working hours and holiday provisions. Employees can also be motivated by possessing greater autonomy in the decision making process. Details of how managers can achieve this will be analysed in the essay. The overall effect of motivation is that it makes workers more energised. This can create a culture of hard work and will be manifested through employee behaviour. These interlink age will be elaborated further in the essay. (Dessler, 2001) The essay will also look at other quality traits that managers can utilise to influence their employees. This can be achieved through justice and honesty when handling employee cases. Leaders also need to employ

WiFi RealTime Location Tracking Systems Essay Example for Free
WiFi RealTime Location Tracking Systems Essay Wrireless networks has affected large and small companies alike. While Radia Frequency Identification (RFID) tags based networks have gained popularity over the years, there are also other wireless networks available that are being tested in order to provide same functionality and more. Wi-Fi and blue tooth are two of the examples of such networks. This short paper discusses the use of Wifi. Wi-Fi Networks WiFi generally comes under the umberalla of RFID. WiFi ID is actually an active RFID system that uses the air communication standard 802. 11. There are also other active RFID systems that use standards other than 802. 11 and operate on different frequencies. One of the important aspect of this scenerio is to understand thje difference between the RFID tags and Wifi tags. RFID Tags vs. WiFi Tags In order to use passive RFID tags, you need to have reader after every few feets to read the tag. For active RFID tags a radio sensor needs to be deployed that uses different technologies to sense the tags in order to determine the location of the tag. Antennas are also required. This means that you need to built an infrastructure to deploy both types of systems. Like Best Buy is doing. When you are using a WiFi based system that are aslo called Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), you only need to set up the WifFi network in the company and can use any underlying technology in order to make it work. RFID tags can also be used here, but adavnatge is that you dont need to set up the RFID network infratsurcture that you needed to incorporate before. In RFID tags, for short range identfication, High frequency tag is used and for short range identification, active UHF tags are used that operate on 900 MHz or 433 MHz. Both these type, as discussed require a complete insfrastructure to be built. However, WiFi operates on 2. 4 GHz. These 2. 4 GHz can be used in the network. For a company like BestBuy, choosing WiFi has an extra advantage that it will already have 802. 11 network infrastructures in place and this will save money for the company. The only things they need to buy are the WiFi tags. Applications The WiFi network infrastructure can provide many application to the companies like BestBuy and some of them include location-based network access, intelligent information management and wireless asset tracking. The WiFi tags can exactly point out the location of the tag. This can also mean that customer walking into the store can have the contents on his PDA according to the position where he is standing. Statistical reports can be generated n the basis of information of how much time a customer spends at a particular location and what consequences this can have using data mining techniques. Once the tagging has helped a customer locate items and a shopping list has been completed, the system can store this list for future reference to the particular customer. The underlying software can prepare a probable list of items for that particular customer. Another important application of WiFi tags can be theft prevention. For example, if a certain item is to be protected, the system will attach a flag to it whenever it is taken from the shelf and added to a cart. The system can then track the item until it reaches the check out line. If the item does not reach the check out line and leaves the store, it will be an indication of a theft and action can be taken against the customer. Therefore, the WiFi network can be employed for security of valuable assets as well. Therefore, WiFi tags can be used beyond item tracking systems such as inventory control systems to easily manage large inventory. References ABI Research. (2006, October 23). The Battle for Justice ââ¬Å"It takes a warrior to fight a battle and survive. This here is a battle if Iââ¬â¢ve ever seen oneâ⬠(Beals 113). In the novel Warriors Donââ¬â¢t Cry, nine students from Little Rock Arkansas are set out on the battlefield for integration. Melba Pattillo and eight other friends are challenged with starting off the integration of Little Rockââ¬â¢s Central High School. The students were signed up and asked to attend the high school in hopes of getting rid of segregation. Although entering high school may seem as easy as signing in and going to class, the test and trials the Little Rock nine went through shows a true test of determination. Comparatively, the ââ¬Å"Arab Springâ⬠, a movement of protests in the Middle East, has caused controversy all over the world. Citizens are rebelling against an unfair government in hopes of create a new way of life. Tired of all the disrespect, unjust, and oppressive government Muslims and Middle Easterners have created a bat tle of their own. While trying to create a better life for themselves, the Little Rock Nine and those involved in the Arab Spring uprisings have stepped on to the battlefield for fair human rights. September 4, 1957 was the date set for the Little Rock Nine to enter into Central High School. While making their way to find the others, Melba and her mother spotted Elizabeth, one of the nine, standing in the midst of a screaming mob. There were national guards towering over her, but none seemed to do anything to stop the threats. Although Elizabeth was frightened, she still tried to enter the school. Elizabeth tried finding a way into the school but, ââ¬Å"Each time she approached, the soldiers closed ranks, shutting her outâ⬠(Beal 36). The National Guard was told by Governor Faub... ...of great determination to increase human rights. A serious battle is one worth fighting for. The Muslims and Middle Easterners are still fighting for their right for a fair government. They are tired of the disrespect. Theyââ¬â¢re tired of the humiliation and unnecessary tactics used by the government. They want more of a democracy, to be able to have a say in the laws that are over their people. Even though they have chosen violent ways they still are trying to make a change. Although the Little Rock Nine were not violent, they wanted to make a change, to better their lives and those of their families. They chose to challenge the government and with the support of outside help they accomplished their goals. Fighting a battle isnââ¬â¢t easy. You need to make sure you have the right tools to conquer. Sometimes the strongest armor you could wear is faith and determination.
